Residents who want to vote in the November 3, 2026 election have deadlines starting in early October, well before election day itself.
The deadline to register to vote in person or by mail is Monday, October 5, 2026. Residents who want to register online through the state's GeauxVote system have until Tuesday, October 13, 2026. GeauxVote is the Secretary of State's online voter registration and information portal.
Early voting runs Tuesday, October 20 through Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for Sunday, October 25, when early voting sites are closed.
Residents who want to vote by mail must request a mail ballot by Friday, October 30, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. The parish Registrar of Voters must receive the completed mail ballot by Monday, November 2, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.
On election day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026, polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. If any race requires a runoff, that election will be held Saturday, December 12, 2026.
St. Charles Parish voters will decide races including United States Senator, United States Representative for either the 2nd or 6th Congressional District depending on where they live, Public Service Commission District 1, District Attorney for the 29th Judicial District, District Judge for Divisions C, D and E of the 29th Judicial District Court, all eight School Board districts, and Justice of the Peace and Constable for districts 1 through 7. Ten proposed amendments to the Louisiana Constitution will also appear on the ballot.
Parish voters will also decide two local tax measures. Proposition 1 of 2 is a renewal of a 2.68 mill tax for recreation, parish wide, for 10 years. Proposition 2 of 2 is a 1.25 mill tax levy in lieu for the Council on Aging, parish wide, for 10 years. The St. Charles Parish Council called the election by resolution at its meeting on April 20, 2026.
As of August 27, 2026, the official sample ballot for the November 3 election had not yet been published by the Secretary of State or by the parish Registrar of Voters. The registrar's website still showed the sample ballot from the June 27, 2026 election as of that date.
