Four of the eight members of the St. Charles Parish School Board did not file paperwork to run again before qualifying closed for the November 3, 2026 election, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State's candidate list. All eight seats were on the ballot because board members serve four-year terms that run together, from January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2026 for the current group.

The four not seeking new terms are Ellis A. Alexander of District 1, who has served since 2007; John L. Smith of District 5, who has served since 1983, the longest tenure on the board at 44 years; Art Aucoin of District 7, who has served since 2011; and Alex L. Suffrin of District 8, who has served since 2007 and has been board president three times.

Two of those four seats will change hands without a contest. In District 1, Aleshia Smith qualified unopposed and is elected. In District 7, Mitzi Faucheux qualified unopposed and is elected.

The other two open seats are contested. District 5 has Tommy Scott running against Deborah Smith. District 8 has Daniel Burst running against Joel Picolo.

The remaining four board members qualified without opposition and will return to the board: Ray Gregson of District 2, Scott Cody of District 3, Karen L. Boudreaux of District 4, and Becky D. Weber of District 6. Cody is the board's current president and Boudreaux its current vice president, both elected to those posts at the board's meeting on December 10, 2025.

Of the eight seats on the board, only two, District 5 and District 8, are being decided by a contested vote in November. The board meets at the Central Office Board Room, 13855 River Road in Luling, at 6:30 p.m. Agendas, minutes with named votes, and meeting video are published by the school district.
