Meeting Summary

The St. Charles Parish Council held its regular meeting on September 8, 2025, opening with a series of proclamations honoring Constitution Week, the King Kat Fishing Tournament, Alligator Weekend, and National Hunting and Fishing Day, along with a special recognition of Waterford 3's 40th year of operation. The most consequential news came from Entergy, which formally announced plans to build two new combined-cycle power generating units, Waterford 5 and Waterford 6, at its Killona site in a project valued at more than $2 billion and expected to bring hundreds of construction jobs and about 30 permanent positions once operational around 2029-2030. The Council also introduced several infrastructure ordinances for a future public hearing, approved funding agreements for drainage and road-safety projects, and made multiple appointments to parish boards and committees.

Council members may want to follow whether any existing generating units are phased out as the new plants come online, a question Entergy said remains under ongoing internal review.
